Sanskriti is a Socio-cultural organization of Bengalees who made Mumbai their home for decades. The journey started long ago, in the year 1953 with the arrangement of Durgapuja and presently it is registered under public trust Act with registration No. F-7286 (MUM). First Durgapuja was initiated by the earliest settlers of Bengalis at Borivali, mainly at Daulat Nagar. Biswas and Dey family have taken the lead with the involvement of Late Chandrababu Biswas, Shanti Ranjan De, Sudhir De and Ranjeet De, Ardhendu Chakraborty and Paresh Bhowmik. Later on other Bengalee families in Borivali area like Basu Chatterjee, Jiten Mukherjee, Nakul Mukherjee were all involved in the puja. The first president was Late Bimal Roy and the first secretary was Late Nakul Mukherjee.
